Lol seriously. Their goaltending is still nuts so they could get lucky with a hot goalie and win but I'd be surprised if they got a medal.

They can still watch the under 24 team at least. That looks like an exciting roster.

Augello continues to wave the 'Stamkos to TOR' flag. I will repeat what Babcock said (not verbatim) in an interview a few weeks ago "Signing (big name) free agents makes sense when we are ready (to compete), but not while we are rebuilding."
I'd say in 2 to 3 years time they should be on the upswing of their rebuild, it is around this time they should focus on signing a big name free agent.
Shanahan made it clear their focus of rebuilding is thru the draft.
I can see them making a trade or two this draft, to either move up in the draft, or to acquire a younger goalie or D man, who are NHL ready.
But I don't see them going after big name free agents just yet, they'd be pissing money in the wind for 4 years if they did. I can't see Shanahan doing this.

I wouldn't put too much stock into what Babcock says publicly on this kind of issue.

And just because this was the first year the Leafs were clearly making no effort to improve their NHL roster (not signing UFAs, sending Nylander et al back down from camp, moving Kessel and Phaneuf and so on) and they finished last, I don't see it as Year One of rebuilding. The lotto win isn't the first piece. They already had Nylander, Marner, and Rielly from previous drafts, Connor Brown and others. Not too mention Kadri and JVR.

The lotto win may accelerate things. He's not a pick who will need a year or two in the minors, he can step in and play. Suddenly being able to shelter him behind Stamkos and Kadri starts to make more sense. Just my take.

I don't know... Why does the peg want a center? They have scheifle and little.

Get rid of bozak. Keep the good players. Having weaker player doesn't mean you can trade better players.

Jets have Scheifele, Little and Lowry down the middle. I'm sure they'd have zero interest in Kadri.
They may move Trouba but not for a Kasri type.
